Thank you Ralph, It's hard to paint a picture with words about such a special place.

I can imagine, though your lovely words painted quite a picture in my mind.

PS my wife and I traversed part of the New River, white water rafting, when we were on our honeymoon (thirty years ago this summer). I was scared to death beforehand, but quickly grew to enjoy it once afloat. My wife lapped it up (both the trip and my awkwardness..).

I have kayaked or rafted almost the entire river, from the head waters up near Boone NC down through West Virginia. (Probably where you and your wife rafted.) It's a beautiful river. I've taken youth groups on trips down that section in West Virginia and depending on recent rains it can be horrendous!

I can well image! We were fortunate in that she was relatively gentle with us on the day, no more than class 3, maybe 4. Aletha, out guide for the trip, also treated us kindly.

Very enjoyable. Those of us who grew up in suburbs and still have to get far from home to have an experience as yours are blessed by your memories. I'm lucky though, the pacific ocean is only 10 minutes away and therein lie s my joy.

San Diego, North County - as far as major metro areas go, a real treasure.

Bravo! A beautiful piece Rob. I’m reminded of our walks along Waterhouse Creek outside of Fulton. Nice memories.
